Athletes across the state prepare for Mass. Senior Games

Region – This June, hundreds of athletes ages 40 and older will converge upon Springfield College to participate in the Massachusetts Senior Games (MASG). There, they will compete in sports such as track and field, swimming, basketball, tennis, racquetball, table tennis and volleyball. Some participants have been lifelong athletes while others may be taking up a sport after a hiatus. And still others may be trying an entirely new sport for the first time.

Volunteering in the community – Scituate Animal Shelter

As a nonprofit no-kill animal shelter, the Scituate Animal Shelter helps over 500 dogs and cats find their new forever homes every year, according to Executive Director Maryann Regan. The organization is primarily volunteer-run and funded solely by private donations.

Outdoor seating area dedicated to late Ted Coghlin

Worcester – Family and friends of Ted Coghlin gathered at the Worcester Senior Center July 15 to officially open a new outdoor seating area that was dedicated in the late Shrewsbury resident’s memory. Coghlin, a noted businessman, community leader and philanthropist, was also an avid supporter of scouting and considered the “Godfather” of the Worcester Technical High School. He passed away in December 2014.
